In the Bible there was a woman by the name of Hannah whose womb was closed up and barren. Her husband loved her dearly, but he had another wife who was very fertile and was able to have baby after baby and she mercilessly taunted Hannah because she couldn’t have children. One day Hannah was at the temple and was crying and praying to God and said that if God gave her a son, she would care for him until he was old enough and then bring him to the temple and give him back to God to use as he chose.
